Wires
STRUKTURASTEEL wire is made of drawn steel with diameters from 1.60 to 4.00 mm and is used to give support to irrigation wire, plants or its branches.
STRUKTURASTEEL wire is made of high carbon-content steel (higher than 0,6%) coated with a zinc and aluminum alloy. High carbon content guarantees excellent resistance performances, preserving wire mechanical and physical characteristics throughout system entire life.
Its low elongation-rate reduces tensioning maintenance work, which are anyway very easy if wire-tensioning accessories are used.
USED MATERIAL
Steel used for STRUKTURASTEEL wire provides high resistance to stresses such, as tying and twisting for blocking. Wire is compliant with the UNI EN 50189: 2000 standard, which regulates flexibility requirements. According to this standard, wire twisted from twelve to eighteen times around its diameter, must not show any kind of fracture. These very high resistance characteristics allow to choose diameters that are more than 30% smaller than traditional galvanized wires (ultimate tensile strength 450 N/mm2 = 45 kg), with significant savings both on materials and costs. With same diameter, and consequently same developments in meters per kilogram, overall resistance value of STRUKTURASTEEL wire is almost double than classical galvanized wire.
Furthermore, STRUKTURASTEEL wire has a minimum tensile strength of 1270 N/mm2 – very high when compared to nominal tensile strength (+/- tolerance) of classic galvanized wire, which is equal to 450 N/mm2.
STRUKTURASTEEL wire is coated with a layer of zinc (95%) and a layer of aluminum (5%), which makes the material highly resistant to corrosion, allowing wire to have a service life same as system’s one. Wire is compliant with the UNI EN 10244-2: 2003 standard which regulates coating quality requirements. According to this standard, wire twisted around a cylinder with diameter four times bigger than the one of tested wire must not show any cracks on coating.
Zinc and aluminum coating provides STRUKTURASTEEL wire with double protection against corrosion. Firstly, wire is protected because coating forms a reinforcement barrier that prevents general corrosion. Second protection mechanism is connected to formation of a galvanic cell that occurs when material is exposed to humidity (electrolyte). Zinc ions migrate to bare steel near the grooves and cut edges, protecting these areas from corrosion.
This coating therefore has the extraordinary ability to “self-heal”, a quality that makes STRUKTURASTEEL wire highly resistant to corrosion even in the presence of scratches, abrasions, cracks and cuts.
Product is supplied with minimum pre-set resistance values so that, even in the case of natural material tolerance, minimum material resistance is guaranteed and consequently the minimum stability of the system that will be established.
Furthermore, the coating is applied in accordance with the UNI EN 10244-2 standard with class A (maximum) galvanizing.
