Shading net

Shading net is manufactured by weaving a plastic monofilament and is used to cover and properly protect crops from damage caused by sun and wind.

Net must be installed and fixed on special structures to guarantee total protection from bad weather, still maintaining a minimum elasticity to avoid premature material wear.

Material used to make the net is high-density polyethylene (HDPE). Wire used is made by extrusion, melting and passing raw material through perforated grids (extruders); subsequently it is thermostabilized, that is to say heated to reduce all retractions that plastic material exposed to even modest heat sources normally presents.

The shading net is made by working the monofilament with a technique called loom weaving. The mesh obtained with this type of process is variable (depending on shade degree) and is non-deformable, meaning the dimensions do not vary when the net is filled with hail.

The weave of the nets is “flat”, that is to say the monofilament is woven into the warp and weft threads.

Shading has different shading rate, from 30% to 90% and its choice depends on your goal, since it can carry out different functions:

  • Shade
  • Windbreaking
  • Anti-hail
  • Anti-insect

Shadowing net can be realized in two different color: black and Kristal.

To choose net color, we recommend following indications:

  • Black net: for all fruit types;
  • Kristall net: for fruits with coloring problems (old varieties still in production or in areas with poor lighting).

In order to avoid damage to the netting caused by high temperatures that the material may be subjected to when rolls are left outdoors, it is recommended to avoid exposing the rolls of netting to direct sunlight for more than four hours.
